DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2018) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduate stakes winner Lakerball and fellow California-breds Creative Instinct and Kookie Gal are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Jimmy Durante Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Del Mar.
Lakerball is by Lakerville, out of the Capsized mare Category Ten, was bred by Rancho de Los Aviadores, is owned by Pappas Racing, Purple Rein Racing or Roberts and is trained by Doug O’Neill. The $1,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has three wins in five starts, earnings of $129,480 and is coming off back-to-back stakes wins.
Creative Instinct is by Creative Cause, out of the Swiss Yodeler mare Teacher Teacher, was bred by The Revocable Trust of Dr. Mikel Harrington & Patricia Harr, is owned by Gary Barber and trained by Peter Miller. She has two wins in three starts, earnings of $105,000 and is coming off a fourth in the Nov. 2 Golden State Juvenile Fillies.
Kookie Gal is by Boisterous, out of the Comic Strip mare Kukaluka, was bred by owners Wachtel Stable and Gary Barber and is trained by Peter Miller. She won her lone start Oct. 18 and has earnings of $30,000.
