SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 22, 2023) – Northern California Yearling Sales graduate Chancery Way scored a 2 3/4-length win in Saturday’s $75,000 Governor’s Cup for fillies and mares at Cal-Expo.
Chancery Way is by Mr. Big, out of the War Chant mare This Means War, was bred by Harris Farms & John Nicoletti, is owned by Andy Smolich and Rob Smolich and is trained by Jamey Thomas.
The $6,500 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has five wins in nine starts, earnings of $191,995 and was coming off a third in the June 11 Dream of Summer.
Chancery Way ran the six furlongs in 1:09.46 and was the 5-2 favorite in a field of six.
