SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (Mar. 22, 2022) – Stakes-winning Northern California Yearling Sale graduates Minister of Soul and El Chavo Del Ocho are entered in Sunday’s $100,000 Bill Thomas Memorial Stakes at Sunland Park.
Minister of Soul is by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Bernstein mare Sensitive Soul, was bred by Dahlberg Farms and is owned by trainer Esteban Martinez. He has 13 wins in 38 starts, earnings of $365,811 and is coming off a fifth in the Mar. 11 Phoenix Gold Cup. The $16,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase was second in this race in 2019.
El Chavo Del Ocho is by Tannersmyman, out of the Artaz mare My Sis Liz, was bred by Joseph Duffel & Woodbridge Farm, is owned by Jeremy Ramsland and trained by Justin Evans. The $4,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has eight wins in 43 starts, earnings of $317,651 and is coming off a third in a Feb. 14 optional claimer.
