DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2015) — California-bred Grade I winner Big Macher recovered from a bobble at the start to overwhelm his rivals and win Monday’s $102,250 Pirate’s Bounty Stakes at Del Mar.
Big Macher is by Beau Genius, out of the Kris S. mare Insight, was bred by Ballena Vista Farm, is owned by Tom Mansor and Tachycardia Stables and is trained by Richard Baltas.
He has seven wins in 17 starts, earnings of $684,038 and was making his first start since finishing fifth in the Mar. 28 Dubai Golden Shaheen.
Big Macher ran the six furlongs in 1:09.18 and won by 4 3/4 lengths as the even-money favorite in the field of 10.
