ARCADIA, Calif. (May 15, 2022) — Tom’s Regret, the undefeated filly who beat males in the Kentucky Juvenile Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 5, will have her next start in the Grade 3 Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga on July 14, if she does not sell in a digital auction that concludes Tuesday morning.
Trainer Jorge Periban said a reserve price has been placed on Tom’s Regret in the Fasig-Tipton May Digital Selected Sale.
“If we don’t sell the filly would run at Saratoga,” Periban said.
In the digital sale format, Tom’s Regret remains at Periban’s stable at Santa Anita until the auction concludes.
Tom’s Regret, a California-bred filly by Tom’s Tribute who races for the partnership of Griffin Stables, Saul Carrillo, Victor Flores and Eugene Zondlo, won her debut in a maiden special weight race for fillies at 4 1/2 furlongs at Santa Anita on April 15, pulling clear by 11 1/2 lengths.
In the Kentucky Juvenile at five furlongs, Tom’s Regret led throughout and won by a length as the 2-1 favorite. She was listed as sold last year for $21,000 at the Fasig-Tipton California Yearling sale.
The $175,000 Schuylerville Stakes for fillies is run at six furlongs and is the top race on opening day of the Saratoga meeting.
