ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 1, 2016) – Multiple stakes winner Singing Kitty is one of four California-breds entered in Sunday’s $200,000 Grade II Monrovia Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Singing Kitty is by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Natural Singer R N, was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, is owned by Aulds or Jeong and is trained by Matthew Chew. She has five wins in 13 starts, earnings of $332,988 and is coming off a third in the Oct. 17 Autumn Miss.
Heaven’s Stairway is by Decarchy, out of the River Flyer mare Kind Friends, was bred by Joshua Litt & AJM Racing, is owned by AJM Racing or JBK Stable and is trained by Scott Hansen. She has five wins in 12 starts, earnings of $185,560 and is making her first start since a fifth in the Apr. 11 Las Cienegas.
Our Pure Creation is by Pure Prize, out of the Smart Strike mare Creative Karen, was bred by owner Joe Parker and is trained by Val Brinkerhoff. She has five wins in 16 starts, earnings of $263,596 and is coming off a fourth in the Nov. 28 Queen of the Green.
Velvet Mesquite is by In Excess, out of the Huddle Up mare Mesquite, was bred by owner Harris Farms and is trained by Blake Heap. She has five wins in 17 starts, earnings of $343,196 and is coming off a second in a Nov. 11 optional claimer. She was third in this race last year.
