LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 31, 2022) – California-bred multiple graded stakes winner Slow Down Andy is entered in Saturday’s $1 million Grade I Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Keeneland.
Slow Down Andy is by Nyquist, out of the Square Eddie mare Edwina E, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He drew the rail with jockey Mario Gutierrez and is 30-1 on the morning line. He was also pre-entered in the $2 million Grade I Qatar Racing Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
He has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $819,100 and is coming off a third in the Oct. 1 Awesome Again Stakes.
Slow Down Andy’s biggest wins are in the Grade II Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby, the Grade II Los Alamitos Futurity and the Grade III Sunland Park Derby. He qualified for the Grade I Kentucky Derby, but missed the race with a fever.
Slow Down Andy faces favorite Cody’s Wish, Gunite and multiple Grade I winner Cyberknife. The Dirt Mile is the fifth race on Saturday’s card.
