ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2018) – Defending champion Cuddle Alert and graded winners Majestic Heat and Miss Sunset are entered in Sunday’s $100,000 Spring Fever Stakes for Golden State Series eligible fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Graded winner Majestic Heat is by Unusual Heat, out of the Ole mare Chi Chi Nette, was bred by Madeline Auerbach & Barry Abrams, is owned by Auerbach, McCauley or Bardy Farm and is trained by Richard Mandella. She has seven wins in 18 starts, earnings of $558,329 and is coming off a third in the Feb. 10 Santa Maria.
Shy Carmelita is by Grazen, out of the Malek mare Malley Girl, was bred by owner Nick Alexander and is trained by Phil D’Amato. She has three wins in 12 starts, earnings of $175,017 and is making her first start since a second in a July 20 optional claimer.
Graded winner Miss Sunset is by Into Mischief, out of the Trippi mare Tuscan Sunset, was bred by Premier Thoroughbreds and Alan Klein, is owned by Klein or Lebherz and is trained by Jeff Bonde. She has seven wins in 13 starts, earnings of $618,375 and is coming off a third in the Jan. 27 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf Sprint.
Cuddle Alert is by Bedford Falls, out of the Gilded Time mare Tee Dee, was bred by Carol Lingenfelter, is owned by Saldana or Urbina and is trained by Reed Saldana. She has seven wins in 32 starts, earnings of $351,514 and is coming off a fifth in the Jan. 27 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint Stakes. She won this race last year.
Stakes winner Bad Ju Ju is by Desert Code, out of the Snow Ridge mare Ju Ju Baby, was bred by Lo Hi Racing Stable & Dick Barton, is owned by Hronis Racing and is trained by John Sadler. She has seven wins in 24 starts, earnings of $352,408 and is coming off a ninth in a Dec. 29 optional claimer.
