Stalking Shadow Leads Cal-bred Quartet

ALBANY, Calif. (Aug. 11, 2021) – Stakes winner Stalking Shadow is one of four California-breds entered in Saturday’s $50,000 Robert Dupret Derby for 3-year-olds at Golden Gate.

Misty Cat is a filly by Bluegrass Cat, out of the Bob and John mare Play Misty for Me, was bred by BKB Stables and is owned by trainer Daniel Franko. She has two wins in 14 starts, earnings of $79,384 and is coming off a fourth in the Aug. 7 Luther Burbank.

Stalking Shadow is by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Petionville mare Silent Stalk, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Jonathan Wong. He has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $136,312 and is coming off a third in a July 31 optional claimer.

Joymaker is a filly by Slew’s Tiznow, out of the Half Term mare Joyously, was bred by owners Dr. & Mrs. William Gray and is trained by Quinn Howey. He has five wins in 13 starts, earnings of $99,810 and is coming off an eighth in the July 23 Fleet Treat.

Swift as I Am is by Danza, out of the Artie Schiller mare As I Am, was bred by Richard Barton Enterprises, is owned by Joe Turner and trained by Jonathan Wong. He has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $101,860 and is coming off three consecutive wins.
