Stallion Suances Passes at Age 22

PIRU, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2019) — California stallion Suances was euthanized on Monday at the age of 22 after suffering complications from an infection, Rancho Temescal owner Tim Cohen announced.

Suances, an English-bred son of Most Welcome, was a high-weighted 3-year-old in France, a champion in Europe and a graded winner on two continents. He was undefeated in four starts in France and Spain.

He came to the U.S. to race at age 5 and won the Grade II San Francisco Breeders’ Cup Mile at Bay Meadows. He retired with eight wins in 12 starts and earnings of $402,559.

At stud, Suances was represented by the Golden Gate stakes winner Feisty Suances, the stakes-placed Camino del Paraiso and multiple winner Adam Suances, with progeny earnings of $3 million.
