DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 23, 2014) – Graded stakes winner Stoney Fleece and fellow California-bred Bench Light are entered in Thursday’s $250,000 Grade II Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes at Del Mar.
Stoney Fleece is by Decarchy, out of the Deputed Testamony mare Gold Fleece, was bred by Joseph Alvarez III, is owned by Michael Terry and trained by Carl O’Callaghan. He has eight wins in 35 starts, earnings of $580,664 and is coming off a third in an Oct. 24 claimer.
Bench Light is by Benchmark, out of the Habitony mare Lightly Go Lightly, was bred by Ellen Jackson and Margaret Scherr, is owned by Cunningham Stable, A. Herbertson, D. Medina, S. Herbertson, et al and is trained by Michael Pender. He has seven wins in 25 starts, earnings of $254,841 and is coming off a sixth in the Sept. 28 John Henry Turf Championship.
