BONSALL, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2016) — Severe storms have battered Southern California this week, one of which spawned a small tornado which damaged one of the barns at San Luis Rey Training Center.
The Daily Racing Form reports that trainer Peter Miller’s barn was damaged late Wednesday afternoon when an apparent tornado ripped the roof off several stalls.
Miller told the Form that none of his horses or employees were injured. All of the horses in the damaged barn have been relocated. Miller believes that the damage is so extensive that the barn will have to be torn down.
“It’s miraculous that no person or horse was injured,” Miller said early Thursday. “I’ve had to move the entire barn. The barn is compromised.”
