DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 2, 2021) — California-bred The Chosen Vron, a three-time stakes winner this year, was found to have bled after a second-place finish in the $175,500 Real Good Deal Stakes last Friday at Del Mar, and will be given a rest.
Trainer Eric Kruljac said over the weekend that The Chosen Vron will have “a few months off.” During that time, The Chosen Vron will undergo treatment in a hyperbaric chamber, he said.
The Chosen Vron was beaten 5 1/4 lengths by None Above the Law in the Real Good Deal Stakes for 3-year-old California-breds at seven furlongs. The Chosen Vron had won his three previous starts in stakes at Santa Anita this year, including the Grade 3 Affirmed Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on June 13.
Kruljac said the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes at seven furlongs for 3-year-olds at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 is a long-range goal.
