LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 8, 2014) — Earlier this week at the TOBA board of trustees meeting, held in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Dr. Dionne Benson gave a status report on the implementation of the RMTC uniform medication program. Based on Dr. Benson’s report, TOBA has released the following statement:
To see that the momentum of this reform program continues, TOBA and its board of trustees pledge to commit resources in order to ensure all Thoroughbred racing jurisdictions implement the entire RMTC uniform medication program.
TOBA is the only organization made up solely of members who are the foundation of our sport. Without owners and breeders there would not be any athletes to perform at our racetracks. TOBA has been encouraged by the overall support seen by many industry organizations for the RMTC uniform medication program and will work diligently with the RCI, the American Graded Stakes Committee, the Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, the National HBPA, The Jockey Club, racetracks, and local horsemen’s groups to achieve full implementation in the near future.
TOBA and its board of trustees are fully committed to the integrity and safety of Thoroughbred racing for all athletes, human and equine.
