DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2015) — Next year, Barretts will conduct six sales at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and 2016 will mark the first year that all Barretts sales will be held at the Del Mar location.
A notable change from the 2015 sales calendar is the Wednesday, March 30 sale date for the Select Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.
“Last year’s February date proved difficult for consignors, and with the completion of the Del Mar track resurfacing from synthetic to dirt, we are now be able to take advantage of the later date opening in March.” said Barretts general manager Kim Lloyd. “There will be two weeks in between the three premier 2-year-old sales conducted in Florida and California, making the logistics more workable for sellers and buyers.”
“We’re very encouraged by the positive feedback generated by the new Del Mar location, particularly at the May Sale. The sale session at the Surfside Race Place opened to a packed pavilion, and concluded with a 38.5% increase in gross sales over the previous year.”
The 2016 Barretts sales dates are as follows: January Mixed Sale (Wed. Jan. 27); Select Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale (Wed. Mar. 30); May Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training (Wed. May 25); The Paddock Sale (Sat. July 16); August Select Yearling Sale (date to be determined) and the Fall Sale of Yearlings and Horses of All Ages (Wed. Oct. 26).
