San Antonio Early ‘Chrome Target

CYPRESS, Calif. (Dec. 5, 2014) — One early target in 2015 for California Chrome may be the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes, according to a report in the Daily Racing Form.

The dual classic winner, who captured the G1 Hollywood Derby in his turf debut, resumed training on Thursday. Trainer Art Sherman told the DRF that the colt will likely make his 2015 debut in the San Antonio, which will be run Feb. 7 at Santa Anita.
The San Antonio could lead California Chrome to a possible start in either the G1 Santa Anita Handicap March 7 or the Group 1 Dubai World Cup March 28, although Sherman indicated that he hoped to stay home with the colt.
“I’d like to stay here, but I don’t know how that will go,” he said.
