(Apr. 28, 2012) – Valentine Boy rallied in deep stretch to win Saturday’s $60,000 NTRA Stakes for California-bred maiden colts and geldings on the Gold Rush XIII card at Hollywood Park.Valentine Boy is by Cyclotron, out of the Cape Canaveral mare Calamity Jane, was bred by owners Todd Marshall and Andrew Molasky, trained by Mike Harrington and ridden by Chantal Southerland. He’s a half-brother to stakes winner Hi Ho Yodeler.
Valentine Boy’s first win came in his third start and first since a second on July 24. He has earnings of $49,700. He ran the 6 ½ furlongs in 1:17.86 and won by a length at odds of 6-1. Sizzlin’ Joe finished fast for second and Sixty Stars was third.
