ALBANY, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2023) — Golden Gate Fields officials announced Monday morning that Golden Gate will conduct live racing on a Friday through Sunday basis on the week of the 2023 Breeders Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. First post on Friday, November 3, Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5 will be 1:15 PM. The Breeders Cup, hosted at Santa Anita Park this year, features five championship races on Friday and nine more on Saturday.
Golden Gate, which has conducted Monday race cards since the beginning of the Summer Meet in August, will be dark on Monday, November 6. The first Monday race card to be offered in the month of November will be on November 13.
The feature race on Saturday, November 4 at Golden Gate is the $100,000 Grade 3 Golden Gate Handicap (formerly known as the Berkeley). The mile and one-sixteenth race for 3-year-olds and up is run on the all-weather Tapeta main track. Along with the live race card at Golden Gate on Saturday, Golden Gate Fields will hold its annual Breeders Cup Watch Party in the turf club. Patrons must purchase tickets to attend the watch party.
