SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Aug. 6, 2014) – Defending champion Ain’t No Other leads five California-breds among the entries for Sunday’s $50,000 Jess Jackson Owners’ Handicap at Santa Rosa.
Ain’t No Other is by Old Topper, out of the Shadeed mare Miami Margie, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has 10 wins in 36 starts, earnings of $573,645 and is coming off a fifth in the July 4 Oak Tree Sprint. He won this race last year, was second in 2012 and third in 2011.
Marino’s Wild Cat is by Marino Marini, out of the Dayjur mare Faxene, was bred by Roy Guinnane, is owned by GCCI and trained by Cliff DeLima. He has four wins in six starts, earnings of $90,680 and has a four-race win streak.
Stakes winner A Toast for You is by Tribal Rule, out of the Apollo mare Whitewinesipper, was bred by Hidden Meadows Farm, is owned by Steve Moger and trained by Ed Moger Jr. He has eight wins in 27 starts, earnings of $456,862 and is coming off a third in the June 14 Albany Stakes.
King Kelly is by Marino Marini, out of the Smart Strike mare Ask Dorothy, was bred by Lewis Figone, is owned by Frankfurt Stable and is trained by Monty Meier. He has four wins in 22 starts, earnings of $169,224 and is making his first start since a Jan. 5 allowance win.
They Call Me Mr. P is by Council Member, out of the Phone Trick mare Drop a Dime, was bred by Pasco Peluso, is owned by Karen and Mickey Taylor and trained by Victor Trujillo. He is a maiden making his third start with earnings of $5,640.
