ALBANY, Calif. (Apr. 26, 2023) – Stakes winner Alice Marble, Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Chancery Way and fellow California-bred Carolina Mia are entered in Saturday’s $75,000 Camilla Urso Stakes for fillies and mares at Golden Gate.
Alice Marble is by Grazen, out of the More Than Ready mare Unsung Heroine, was bred by owner Nick Alexander and is trained by Phil D’Amato. She has seven wins in 15 starts, earnings of $470,880 and is coming off a win in the Mar. 17 Irish O’Brien.
Chancery Way is by Mr. Big, out of the War Chant mare This Means War, was bred by Harris Farms & John Nicoletti, is owned by Andy Smolich & Rob Smolich and is trained by Jamey Thomas. The $6,500 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has four wins in six starts, earnings of $126,770 and is coming off a fifth in the Feb. 19 Spring Fever.
Carolina Mia is by Gallant Son, out of the Sought After mare Carolina Grande, was bred by Daehling Ranch, is owned by Margarito Arechiga and is trained by Felix Rondan. She has four wins in 27 starts, earnings of $219,080 and is coming off a third in an Apr. 2 allowance. She was seventh in this race last year.
