CYPRESS, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2015) – Ambitious Brew overtook pacesetter Avanti Bello around the turn and won Saturday’s $75,000 E.B. Johnston Stakes for California-breds at Los Alamitos.
Ambitious Brew is a multiple stakes winner by Tizbud, out of the Forest Wildcat mare Kathwen, was bred by owner Pamela Ziebarth and is trained by Martin Jones.
He has five wins in 14 starts, earnings of $341,130 and was coming off a fifth in the July 26 California Dreamin’.
Ambitious Brew ran the mile in 1:34.29 and won by two lengths at odds of 3-2. Soi Phet was second and Avanti Bello was third in the field of eight.
