Cal-bred Pair in Contender

CYPRESS, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2015) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Phantom Heat  and fellow California-bred Bully Pulpit are entered in Sunday’s $75,000 Contender Stakes for 2-year-olds at Los Alamitos.

Phantom Heat is by Sierra Sunset, out of the Unusual Heat mare Passionate Heat, was bred by George and Mary Clare Schmitt, Robert Nugent and Nick Hines, is owned by Bryan Carney and trained by Charles Stutts. The $5,200 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase is a maiden making his 10th start with earnings of $7,616.

Bully Pulpit is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Good Journey mare Brave Journey, was bred by Larry Stein, is owned by Six-S Racing Stable and is trained by Craig Lewis. He has two wins in four starts, earnings of $95,680 and is coming off a back-to-back wins.
