TEMECULA, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2023) — Information-packed seminars, horse demonstrations, stallion viewings, prize giveaways and networking opportunities headline an ambitious agenda for the 2023 Autumn Equine Fair which will be conducted at Milky Way Farm in Temecula, California from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 14. Participation in this educational event is free for current and prospective horse owners and breeders.
Sponsored by the California Thoroughbred Farm Managers Association and California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, the event will feature several 20-minute sessions led by professional speakers on a wide variety of topics, including horse health, feeding and nutrition, broodmare care, foal imprinting, halter breaking, weanling training, yearling conformation, evacuation preparedness for fire and flood emergencies, racing partnerships, handicapping tips, wagering strategies and racehorse retirement and retraining. A question-and-answer period will follow each session.
Attendees will be treated to coffee and donuts in the morning and street tacos for lunch. Equine-related prizes, including 2024 seasons to selected stallions, will be offered as raffle items throughout the event.
Milky Way Farm will parade several stallions from its current roster, including Grade 1 winners Midnight Storm and Graydar, each of whom currently rank among the top 12 active California sires of 2023, as well as the farm’s multiple graded stakes winner and 2023 first-year stallion Tizamagician. Representatives from Arroyo Vista Farm, BG Thoroughbred Farms and Pacific Coast Thoroughbreds also will be on hand with marketing materials for their respective stallions and farm services.
“We are honored to host this educational event for the benefit of Thoroughbred breeders and owners and other horse enthusiasts in our Southern California region,” said Milky Way Farm owner Linda Madsen. “Whether someone is an experienced horseman or a newcomer to our industry, we believe they will find tremendous benefit in attending the informative sessions, having the opportunity to ask questions on a one-on-one basis and interacting with others from the local equine community.”
Directions: Milky Way Farm is located at 34174 De Portola Road. From Temecula, drive 5 1/2 miles east on Highway 79 South (Temecula Parkway) and turn left past the Tractor Supply feed store onto Anza Road. At the first stop sign, turn left onto De Portola, which immediately becomes a dirt road. Milky Way is the second big ranch on the right; the farm’s address is marked on its gate posts.
