Better Bet in E.B. Johnston

CYPRESS, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2014) – Better Bet is the lone stakes winner in the field for Friday’s $75,000 E.B. Johnston Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds at Los Alamitos.

Patriots Rule is by Tribal Rule, out of the Seattle Bound mare Candy Factory, was bred by Dahlberg Farms, is owned by Charles Garvey and trained by Robertino Diodoro. He has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $141,680 and is coming off a second in the Aug. 1 Real Good Deal.

Princesskatiebella is a filly by Birdonthewire, out of the Halo’s Image mare Picky Princess, was bred by Ross McLeod, is owned by Kevan Kynaston and trained by Thomas Bell. She has one win in five starts, earnings of $17,120 and is coming off a July 13 maiden claiming win.

Eddie’s First is by Square Eddie, out of the Boston Harbor mare Teresa Ann, was bred by J. Paul Reddam, is owned by Reddam Racing and trained by Doug O’Neill. He has one win in seven starts, earnings of $47,800 and is coming off a seventh in the July 5 Los Alamitos Derby.

Better Bet is by Southern Image, out of the Swiss Yodeler mare Short Sentence, was bred by Revocable Trust of Dr. Mikel Harrington and Patricia Harrington, is owned by trainer Mike Harrington. He has three wins in 16 starts, earnings of $261,620 and is coming off a seventh in the Aug. 27 California Dreamin’.
