DEL MAR, Calif. (July 25, 2015) – Unbeaten Big Book drew clear late to win Saturday’s $200,000 Fleet Treat Stakes for Golden State Series eligible 3-year-old fillies at Del Mar.
Big Book is by Mr. Big, out of the Holy Bull mare Novel Twist, was bred by owner George Krikorian and is trained by Tim Yakteen.
“She didn’t run as a 2-year-old because she’s a big filly and she needed time to mature and grow into herself,” said Yakteen. “Waiting on her is a key factor in the success we’re having right now. We’ll enjoy the moment and I’ll talk to George (owner George Krikorian) before we decide what to do next. We’ll find a race for her, possibly here. ”
She has won all three career starts with earnings of $178,400.
Kiss At Midnight was second and odds-on favorite Sheer Pleasure was third in the field of seven.
Big Book ran the seven furlongs in 1:24.77 and won by 2 ¼ lengths at odds of 7-2.
“She had something left at the end and I could tell,” said jockey Rafael Bejarano. “I was riding her with confidence. We were all up in there, but my filly was very comfortable. Even though it was close there for a while, I felt like I could take the race whenever I wanted.”
Mr. Big stands at E.A. Ranches.
