ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 8, 2014) — Santa Anita Park, which will host the Breeders’ Cup World Championships for an unprecedented third consecutive year Oct. 31-Nov. 1, is seeking volunteers from the local community to help accommodate the needs of the thousands of anticipated visitors.
Volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of patron services: Greeting racing fans as they enter the track’s grounds, escorting horse owners from their seats to and from the paddock, staffing various areas to answer questions, provide directions, coordinate traffic arrangements, and staff the Breeders’ Cup press center.
While an interest in horse racing and familiarity with Santa Anita Park are not required, that would be helpful. Volunteers should be prepared to attend an orientation one week before Breeders’ Cup, and on the day of their volunteer sessions, to be on their feet for a six-hour period.
Breeders’ Cup volunteers will have an opportunity to be involved with a world-class sports event that will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Group. Those interested are encouraged to contact Sheila Solis at sheila.solis@santaanita.com.
