DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 4, 2023) — Bus Buzz shook free heading into the turn and ran off to win Friday’s $175,000 Real Good Deal Stakes for Golden State Series-eligible 3-year-olds at Del Mar.
Bus Buzz is by Stay Thirsty, out of the Bring the Heat mare Lost Bus, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Lovinger, Halasz and Navarro and trained by Steve Knapp.
“I told Edwin to get six, seven, eight lengths in front and if we get beat we get beat,” said Knapp. “At the quarter pole I could see that Kangaroo Court was all out trying to catch him and he just got tired trying to catch us.”
Bus Buzz has three wins in five starts, earnings of $222,150 and was coming off a win in a May 28 optional claimer.
He ran the seven furlongs in 1:22.97 and won by four lengths as the 9-5 second choice in a field of six.
Finishing second in the heat was J. Kirk and Judy Robison’s Giver Not a Taker, two and a quarter lengths ahead of ISK Racing Stable, Hames, Lawless et al’s Clouseau.
