Cal-bred Sells for $130,000

DEL MAR, Calif. (May 28, 2015) – A son of Stormin Fever sold for $130,000 at Thursday’s Barretts May Sale of 2-Year-olds in Training at Del Mar and was the highest-priced California-bred to go through the ring.

The colt, out of the Salt Lake mare Margarita Salt, was consigned by Checkmate Thoroughbreds as part of the partial dispersal for Golden Eagle Farm and was purchased by George Bolton.

The sale showed an increase of 38.5% in gross and 5.4% in average over 2014’s edition, held in Pomona. A son of J P’s Gusto topped the sale at $230,000.
