Cal-bred Trio Entered in Oakland Stakes

ALBANY, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2019) – California-breds Smokey Image, Indian Zip and My Friend Emma are entered in Saturday’s $50,000 Oakland Stakes at Golden Gate.

Smokey Image is by Southern Image, out of the Free House mare Special Smoke, was bred by C Punch Ranch, is owned by Irvin Racing Stable and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has six wins in 23 starts, earnings of $542,047 and is coming off a seventh in the Sept. 7 E.B. Johnston. His last win was the Jan. 30, 2016 California Derby.

Indian Zip is by Indian Evening, out of the City Zip mare Zipping My Way, was bred by owner Daniel O’Neill, and is trained by Joe Steiner. He has four wins in 10 starts, earnings of $98,468 and is coming off a second in an Oct. 26 allowance.

Northern California Yearling Sale graduate My Friend Emma is by Tannersmyman, out of the Artax mare Ma Ka Bet, was bred by Jim Eaton, is owned by Candelario Barragan or Jocelyn Robles and is trained by Jesus Ramos. The $1,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has eight wins in 26 starts, earnings of $294,412 and is coming off a sixth in the Oct. 19 California Flag.
