DUBAI, U.A.E. (Jan. 29, 2019) – Three California-breds have been nominated for the Dubai World Cup card, to be run on March 30 at Meydan Racecourse, including Richard’s Boy, who has competed in the event the previous two years.
Edwards Going Left has been nominated to the $2.5 million Group I Dubai Golden Shaheen and the $1.5 million Godolphin Mile. He is by Midnight Lute, out of the Broken Vow mare Dypsy, was bred by Red Baron’s Barn & Vaya Con Suerte, is owned by Hronis Racing and trained by John Sadler. He has seven wins in 17 starts, has earnings of $511,390 and finished third in Saturday’s $150,000 California Cup Donald Valpredo Sprint.
Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Touched by Autism has also been nominated to the Dubai Golden Shaheen and Godolphin Mile. He is by Sierra Sunset, out of the Beau Genius mare Beau’s Gem, was bred by George & Mary Clare Schmitt, is owned by Johnny Toboada and is trained by Marcia Stortz. The $2,700 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has eight wins in 30 starts, earnings of $270,746 and was sixth in the Jan. 19 Palos Verdes.
Richard’s Boy has been nominated to the $2 million Al Quoz Turf Sprint. He is by Idiot Proof, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Marissa’s Joy, was bred by Harold and Pamela Tillema, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. He has nine wins in 36 starts, earnings of $977,355 and was second in Saturday’s Cal Cup Sprint. He was sixth in the race last year and fifth in 2017.
