LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 14, 2015) – Two mares with California ties sold for $100,000 each in Tuesday’s session of the Keeneland January Breeding Stock Sale.
Kentucky-bred Winning Image, a multiple stakes-winning daughter of California stallion Southern Image, sold as a broodmare prospect. The 8-year-old, out of the California-bred Apollo mare Harvest Girl, was consigned by Four Star Sales, agent, and purchased by Calumet. She earned $729,237 on the track.
California-bred May Fine was unplaced in one start, but she is a full sister to Grade I winner Romance Is Diane and she sold in foal to Candy Ride. The 4-year-old is by In Excess, out of the mare Romantic Fibs, was consigned by Mulholland Springs, agent, and was purchased by Berkey Bloodstock.
