California Live Foals Increase in 2022

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 12, 2022) — California breeders bucked the downward national trend, reporting a 4 percent increase in live foals in 2022, according to official statistics released by The Jockey Club on Wednesday.

California reported 1,303 live foals in 2022, compared to 1,253 in 2021. The only other regions reporting gains in 2022 were Indiana, Ontario and Oklahoma. Overall, The Jockey Club reports that total live foals for 2022 are down 2.2 percent from 2021.
