Central Heat Risks Win Streak

ALBANY, Calif. (May 11, 2016) – Defending champion Central Heat risks her six-race win streak in Saturday’s $50,000 Golden Poppy Stakes for fillies and mares at Golden Gate.

Central Heat is by Unusual Heat, out of the Smart Strike mare Miss Boomtown, was bred by Abrams, Huston Racing, Matties Racing and Auerbach, is owned by William Delia or Dana Rocheford and is trained by Delia. She has 14 wins in 33 starts, earnings of $324,651 and is coming off six consecutive wins, including this race last year.

Handfull is by Comic Strip, out of the Roman Dancer mare Honoree Lady, was bred by Dr. & Mrs. William Gray, is owned by Team Green, Hollendorfer and Nakkasian and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. She has 15 wins in 34 starts, earnings of $325,170 and is coming off a win in the Mar. 27 March Madness Starter’s Handicap. She was eighth in this race last year.

Elprado’s Heirloom is by Tannersmyman, out of the El Prado mare Checkthisgroove, was bred by Sarah McCarthy, is owned Pangaea Racing and trained by Meagan Davenport. She is a maiden making her fourth start.

Qiaona is by Wilko, out of the Skywalker mare Starlet Sky, was bred by B&B Zietz Stables, is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning and trained by Ed Moger Jr. She has seven wins in 34 starts, earnings of $633,415 and is coming off a third in an Apr. 24 allowance.
