ARCADIA, Calif. (May 11, 2016) – Multiple stakes winner Smokey Image and fellow California-bred stakes winner Mrazek are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Lazaro Barrera Stakes for 3-year-olds at Santa Anita.
Smokey Image is by Southern Image, out of the Free House mare Special Smoke, was bred by C Punch Ranch, is owned by Irvin Racing and trained by Carla Gaines. He has six wins in eight starts, earnings of $443,445 and is coming off a seventh in the Apr. 9 Santa Anita Derby.
Mrazek is by is by Square Eddie, out of the Wild Rush mare Heckuva Rush, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He has two wins in five starts, earnings of $147,770 and is coming off a second in an Apr. 21 optional claimer.
