ARCADIA, Calif. (Mar. 15, 2021) – Charlene “Charlie” Markel, a former longtime staff member of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, passed away Sunday night. She was 74.
Markel worked on the California Thoroughbred magazine as a graphic artist from 1978-2014. A fixture in the FrontRunner and infield at Santa Anita, she was an avid racegoer.
She is survived by husband Donn Markel.
