Crystal Water Draws John Scott

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2013) –John Scott, whose last two finishes were a third and fourth in graded stakes, returns to California-bred company in Saturday’s $100,000 Crystal Water Stakes on the Sunshine Millions card at Santa Anita.

John Scott is by Bertrando, out of the Deputy Minister mare Henlopen, was bred by Harris Farms and Scott Gross, is owned by Harris Farms and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has five wins in 11 starts, earnings of $400,304 and is coming off a third in the Jan. 5 San Pasqual.

Big Bane Theory is by Artie Shiller, out of the Alysheba mare Shebane, was bred by owners Scott Gross and Mark Devereaux and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has two wins in five starts, earnings of $102,720 and is coming off a fourth in the Dec. 26 Sir Beaufort.

Circle the Moon is by Cyclotron, out of the In Excess mare Mada Moon, was bred by Bruce and Gus Headley, is owned by Aase Headley and trained by Bruce Headley. He has two wins in 12 starts, earnings of $131,654 and is coming off a second in a Jan. 5 allowance.

Huntsville is by Unusual Heat, out of the Jade Hunter mare Lethal Hunter, was bred by owners David Abrams and Madeline Auerbach and is trained by Barry Abrams. He has three wins in 22 starts, earnings of $183,725 and is coming off a second in a Jan. 4 $62,500 claimer.

Jules Journey is by Good Journey, out of the Flag Down mare Flag the Mint Down, was bred in Kentucky by Sean and Barbara Speck, is owned by Cassidy, DeLahunt & DeLahunt and is trained by James Cassidy. The $10,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in nine starts, earnings of $89,740 and is coming off a win in a Dec. 13 optional claimer.

Stoney Fleece is by Decarchy, out of the Deputed Testamony mare Gold Fleece, was bred by Joseph Alvarez III, is owned by Gary or Cecil Barber and trained by John Sadler. The $1,200 Barretts purchase has five wins in 15 starts, earnings of $317,058 and is making his first start since a sixth in the Aug. 3 Real Good Deal.

Swift Eagle is by Birdonthewire, out of the Falstaff mare Falmora, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds, is owned by Day or DiPietro and trained by Patrick Gallagher. He has two wins in nine starts, earnings of $122,060 and is coming off a third in a Dec. 15 optional claimer.

Thirtyfirststreet is by Good Journey, out of the Sky Classic mare Avian, was bred by Doug O’Neill and Mark Gorman, is owned by Gorman or Haymes or Sterling Stables and is trained by Peter Eurton.
