CTBA Winter Sale Grad in Speedy Win

DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2021) – The California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Winter Mixed Sale, scheduled for its next renewal on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, had its most recent successful graduate on Saturday when Kid Corleone won an open maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds at Del Mar.

Kid Corleone is a colt by Shackleford, out of the Indian Charlie mare Corleone, was bred by The Quarter Company, owned by Roadrunner Racing and Barbara Everson and trained by Doug O’Neill.

He was a $10,500 purchase at the CTBA January Sale in 2021 and resold for $62,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita 2-year old in training sale to Dennis O’Neill.

Kid Corleone ran the 6 ½ furlongs in a speedy 1:15.58 and won by a length at odds of 14-1 in a field of eight. He went wire to wire in his second career start and clicked off fractions of 21.78, 44.09 and 1:08.98.
