Debut Winner for The Pamplemousse

ARCADIA, Calif. (May 30, 2014) — Freshman California sire The Pamplemousse’s first starter Big Swag was a $56,000 maiden allowance daylight winner at Santa Anita.

 

Big Swag is out of the Boundary broodmare Border Fire a multiple stakes placed winner of $296,703. The juvenile broke alertly and was pressed along by the favorite until the head of the stretch when the gray gelding drew off by daylight and scored by three and a quarter lengths in 52.23.

 

Bred in California by Hayes and Hayes this juvenile had a solid worktab for his debut, including a bullet 35 and 3 move from the gate, for trainer Dan Hendricks and owners Hayes, Higman, McGuire, et al. He picked up the Cal-bred/sired bonus of $17,500 and the $33,600 winners share of the purse.
