Five Cal-breds in Oakland Stakes

ALBANY, Calif. (Nov. 12, 2013) – Multiple stakes winner Ain’t No Other is the leading earner among five California-breds entered in Saturday’s $50,000 Oakland Stakes at Golden Gate.

Ourwestcoastghost is by Muqtarib, out of the In Excess mare Xpress Xcess, was bred by owners Ron and Lillian Lang and D. Wayne Baker and is trained by Baker. He has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $135,212 and is coming off a fourth in an Oct. 20 allowance.

Ain’t No Other is by Old Topper, out of the Shadeed mare Miami Margie, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has nine wins in 30 starts, earnings of $540,465 and is coming off a second in the Oct. 19 California Flag. He was third in this race last year.

Coach Bob is by Bertrando, out of the Yankee Gentleman mare Gentleman’s Hope, was bred by Pam & Marty Wygod, is owned by Tom Gerstel, Reina Gonzalez, Keith Hembree, Jean Hembree, et al. He has four wins in 27 starts, earnings of $172,748 and is coming off a sixth in an Oct. 20 allowance.

Mel’s Game is by Game Plan, out of the Malek mare Melinda Rose, was bred by owner Nick Alexander and is trained by Mike Mitchell. He has three wins in seven starts, earnings of $133,016 and is making his first start since a June 8 optional claimer.

Starboardlights is by Helmsman, out of the Allen’s Prospect mare Allitup, was bred by Leland Garner, is owned by Stewball Stable and Kristin Finkel and is trained by Valerie Rhoden. He has four wins in 24 starts, earnings of $208,339 and is coming off a second in the Aug. 10 Jess Jackson Owners’ Handicap.
