Square Eddie’s Fee Set at $7,500

From Vessels Stallion Farm BONSALL, Calif. (Nov. 12, 2013) — Owner J. Paul Reddam has announced that leading California freshman sire Square Eddie will continue his career at stud at Vessels Stallion Farm in 2014 at a fee of $7,500 stands and nurses.

Square Eddie’s 2014 book will be limited to 70 mares, consisting of 35 of Reddam’s mares and 35 approved outside mares.

Square Eddie is a 7-year-old Ontario-bred son of Smart Strike, winner of the Grade I Lane’s End Breeders’ Futurity, runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and $856,042 in earnings. As a 5-year-old, he set the Santa Anita track record for 6 ½ furlongs at 1:13.11.

His first crop to race are 2-year-olds this year, headed by multiple stakes winner Sprouts, who took the Cinderella and California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes. The crop also includes stakes-placed Eddies Curl, Smoove It and Electric Eddie..
