Galilean Looks Tough in King Glorious

CYPRESS, Calif. (Dec. 13, 2018) – Galilean will try for his second stakes win at Los Alamitos when he faces six opponents in the $100,000 King Glorious Sunday.

Named in honor of the winner of the 1988 Hollywood Futurity and 1989 Haskell, the King Glorious is restricted to 2-year-olds bred or sired in California and is the main event on the final day of the Winter Thoroughbred meet.

Post time Sunday is 12:30 p.m. The King Glorious, which is the seventh of 10 races, has an approximate post time of 3:30 p.m.

A son of Uncle Mo and the El Prado mare Fresia, Galilean defeated Seven Scents by a neck as the 9-10 favorite in his career debut in the Barretts Juvenile Sept. 22.

Owned by West Point Thoroughbreds, Denise Barker and William Sandbrook and trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, Galilean, who was purchased for $600,000 at the Barretts sale in April, returned to finish second – beaten by a neck – behind Cruel Intention in the Golden State Juvenile Nov. 3. He has banked $94,000.

Hollendorfer also entered Tivan, a son of Indian Evening and the Precocity mare Zak’s Precocious.

Owned by breeder KMN Racing LLC, Tivan suffered his first loss when fourth as the 3-2 favorite when stretched to one mile in the Gold Rush Stakes Dec. 1 at Golden Gate Fields.

The dark bay had begun his career with two sprint victories in Northern California, including the Golden Nugget Stakes Nov. 10. Tivan, who will be making his first start on dirt, has earned $64,850.

Our Silver Oak returns to the main track after completing the exacta behind More Ice in an optional claimer on turf a month ago at Del Mar.

Owned by Robert Jones, Michael Nentwig and Ray Pagano and trained by Bill Morey, the Unusual Heat colt out of the Alphabet Soup mare Strawberry Flash was third behind Galilean in the Barretts Juvenile. He broke his maiden first time out over this track when 33-1 July 4.

Worse than third only once, Our Silver Oak has banked $55,040 in four starts.

Feeling Strong will stretch out in his first start since defeating maidens in his fourth race Sept. 3 at Del Mar.

A son of Capital Account and the Choctaw Ridge mare Feel Ridge, Feeling Strong has earnings of $53,940 for owner-breeder BG Stables and trainer Hector Palma.

Its Five Somewhere will be making his second start of the Winter meet for Tricar Stables, Inc. and trainer Sal Gonzalez after scoring a victory in the slop over $40,000 maidens Dec. 6.

A Stay Thirsty colt out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Silk Or Satin, Its Five Somewhere has earned $27,060 in six starts.

Principe Carlo will be aiming for a second consecutive victory as he goes long for the first time in his career for Carlo Scialanga and trainer Marcelo Polanco.

A Coil colt out of the Rahy mare Princess Ezra, Principe Carlo was a decisive winner of an optional claimer at 6 ½ furlongs Nov. 16 at Del Mar. He is 1-for-1 at Los Alamitos, having graduated during the Los Angeles County Fair meet in September.

Principe Carlo is 2-for-5 with a bankroll of $42,330.

Poppy’s C Note, who is unplaced in two previous tries at Los Alamitos, goes long after a narrow win over $50,000 maidens Nov. 16.

Trained by Steve Miyadi for breeders Tom Capehart and William Myers, Jr., the Bluegrass Cat gelding out of the Purge mare Lookin for Jonesy has earned $33,890 in seven races.
