ARCADIA, Calif. (Mar. 28, 2021) – California stallion Gem Heist was represented by his first winner on Sunday when Musical Gem won the fourth race at Santa Anita for maiden 3-year-olds, with Careless Kitten, also by Gem Heist, finishing second.
Musical Gem is out of the Bertrando mare Musical Recital. He and Careless Kitten were bred by Bobby Grayson, owned by Grayson and Carol Ann Grayson Living Trust and trained by Val Brinkerhoff.
Musical Gem ran the six furlongs in 1:11.51 and won by 1 ¾ lengths at odds of 7-2 in the field of eight.
