PHOENIX, Ariz. (Feb. 18, 2023) – Longshot California-bred Special Moment rallied from last to win Saturday’s $60,000 Startac Stakes for 3-year-olds at Turf Paradise.
Special Moment is by Stanford, out of the Blame mare Blame It Onthesong, was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, is owned by Chris Aulds and Gaylon McGee and trained by Bart Hone.
He has two wins in seven starts, earnings of $59,669 and was coming off a maiden optional claiming win.
Special Moment ran the 7 ½ furlongs on turf in 1:32.19 and won by three-quarters of a length and odds of 13-1 in a field of nine.
