ARCADIA, Calif. (Apr. 5, 2023) – California-bred graded stakes winner Leggs Galore and fellow Cal-bred stakes winner Big Summer are entered in Saturday’s $200,000 Grade III Monrovia Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Leggs Galore is by Bayern, out of the Indian Charlie mare Cashing Tickets, was bred by owner William Sims and is trained by Phil D’Amato. She has nine wins in 18 starts, earnings of $694,548 and is making her first start since a second in the Oct. 15 California Distaff Handicap.
Big Summer is by Mr. Big, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Ultimate Summer, was bred by Bob Abrams & Mitchel Dutko, is owned by Abrams, Dutko and Michael Paran and is trained by Carla Gaines. She has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $315,160 and is coming off a second in the Feb. 18 Wishing Well.
