CYPRESS, Calif. (July 17, 2021) — Five stakes worth a guaranteed $400,000 will be offered during the upcoming Los Angeles County Fair at Los Alamitos meet, including the $75,000 E.B. Johnston for California-breds.
The 10-day LACF season is scheduled to begin Friday, Sept. 10 and continue through Sunday, Sept. 26. Racing will be conducted on a Friday-Sunday basis the first two weeks (Sept. 10-12 and Sept. 17-19) and Thursday-Sunday (Sept. 23-26) the final week.
The first of the stakes races will be contested Saturday, Sept. 11. Three-year-old fillies will run six furlongs in the $75,000-guaranteed Beverly J. Lewis. One day later, 3-year-olds & up bred or sired in California will compete in the $75,000-guaranteed E.B. Johnston at one mile.
The final two Saturdays of the season will feature the $75,000-guaranteed Capote for 2-year-olds colts & geldings Sept. 18 and the $75,000-guaranteed Phone Chatter for fillies Sept. 25. Both races will be run at 6 ½ furlongs.
Completing the stakes schedule is the $100,000-guaranteed Los Alamitos Special for 3-year-olds & up at 1 1/16 miles. The Special – which was contested at 1 ¼ miles in 2018-2019 – will be run Sunday, Sept. 19.
