NorCal Sale Grad Enters Golden Nugget

ALBANY, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2023) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Capo Luigi is one of four California-breds entered in Saturday’s $50,000 Golden Nugget Stakes for 2-year-olds at Golden Gate.

Good Lovin is by Stanford, out of the Street Sense mare Wife Approved, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Steve Sherman. He won his lone start Oct. 15 with earnings of $20,280.

Wild Jewels is by Tamarando, out of the Distorted Humor mare Ribbon of Jewels, was bred by owners Mr. & Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Steven Specht. He has two wins in four starts, earnings of $64,460 and is coming off a win in a Sept. 11 optional claimer.

Capo Luigi is by Dads Caps, out of the Smart Strike mare She’s Striking, was bred by Richard Barton Enterprises, is owned by Moger Inc, James Ghidella, Janice Kosel, Gary Kropp, Janet Kropp, Andy Miller and Paul Pimental and is trained by Ed Moger Jr. The $7,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale out of the Barton Thoroughbreds consignment has one win in three starts, earnings of $33,000 and is coming off an Oct. 29 maiden win.

Melanie’s Tiger is by Smiling Tiger, out of the Gotham City mare Melanie Rose, was bred by owners Martin Bach and Daniel Weiner and is trained by Manuel Badilla. He is a maiden making his fourth start with earnings of $22,360.
