ALTOONA, Iowa (July 2, 2023) – Multiple stakes winner One in Vermillion is the lone California-bred entered in Saturday night’s $300,000 Iowa Derby for 3-year-olds at Prairie Meadows.
One in Vermillion is by Army Mule, out of the Any Given Saturday mare Given Star, was bred by Richard Barton Enterprises, is owned by Jonathan Kalman and trained by Esteban Martinez.
He has five wins in nine starts, earnings of $279,240 and is coming off a second in the June 21 Canterbury Derby.
