ALBANY, Calif. (Dec. 10, 2015) – Multiple stakes winner Qiaona is one of four California-breds among entries for Sunday’s $50,000 Miss America Stakes for fillies and mares at Golden Gate.
Qiaona is by Wilko, out of the Skywalker mare Starlet Sky, was bred by B&B Zietz Stables, is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning and trained by Ed Moger Jr. She has six wins in 29 starts, earnings of $561,723 and is coming off a Nov. 22 optional claiming win.
Lucy in Diamonds is by Rock Hard Ten, out of the Relaunch mare Spritz, was bred by Graziani & Parks, is owned by Graziani or Parks or Russell and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. She has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $80,518 and is coming off a Nov. 22 allowance win.
Journey On is by Good Journey, out of the American Chance mare Miss Del Mar, was bred by Leatherman Racing, is owned by Robert Master and trained by Richard Baltas. She has four wins in 17 starts, earnings of $213,678 and is coming off a second in a Nov. 7 allowance.
French Alps is by Swiss Yodeler, out of the Unusual Heat mare Nostalgie, was bred by Madeline Auerbach & Barry Abrams, is owned by Janet Hollendorfer or George Todaro and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. She has 15 wins in 24 starts, earnings of $184,292 and has a four-race win streak.
