ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2014) – Grade I winner Tamarando leads a compact but talented field entered in Saturday’s $100,000 California Flag Stakes for Golden State Series eligibles at Santa Anita.
Ain’t No Other is by Old Topper, out of the Shadeed mare Miami Margie, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbred and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has 10 wins in 39 starts, earnings of $616,645 and is coming off a fourth in the Oct. 5 Harris Farms Stakes. He was second in this race last year.
Super Ability is by Langfuhr, out of the High Brite mare Super High, was bred by Harris Farms, is owned by Harris Farms and Iconic Thoroughbreds and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $213,590 and is coming off a sixth in an Aug. 15 allowance.
Heat Flash is by Unusual Heat, out of the Show Dancer mare Ballistic Lady, was bred by Madeline Auerbach and Barry Abrams, is owned by Abrams, Little Red Feather Racing and Auerbach and is trained by Abrams. He has two wins in 19 starts, earnings of $144,596 and is coming off a sixth in a Sept. 27 allowance.
Boozer is by Unusual Heat, out of the Cape Canaveral mare Kitty and Boo, was bred by Abrams, Loverso, Perez, Huston Racing and Auerbach, is owned by Al and Saundra Kirkwood and trained by Mark Glatt. He has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $232,672 and is coming off am Aug. 31 allowance win.
Multiple graded stakes winner Tamarando is by Bertrando, out of the Dehere mare Tamarack Bay, was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $645,120 and is making his first start since a fourth in the Apr. 26 Snow Chief Stakes.
