Redattore Passes at 26 in Brazil

Former California stallion Redattore passed away on Saturday in his native Brazil, according to The Bloodhorse. He was 26.

The Grade I winner and son of Roi Normand was the sire of Compari, a California-bred graded-stakes winner of $673,724 bred by Harris Farms, Donald Valpredo and John Nicoletti.

Redattore won 15 of 32 starts racing in Brazil, Argentina, and North America. Trained in Southern California by Richard Mandella for Dr. Luis Taunay after establishing himself as a group I winner in Brazil, Redattore captured seven California graded stakes, including the Shoemaker Breeders’ Cup Mile Stakes (gr. IT) and Eddie Read Handicap (gr. IT). He also was a grade II winner on dirt, taking the San Antonio Handicap.
